About the position

The Senior Software Engineer, Java at Fiserv plays a crucial role in developing and delivering high-value features in a fast-paced, agile environment. This position involves collaboration with various internal teams and third-party vendors to ensure seamless integration of solutions, while also enhancing DevOps practices and addressing technical challenges in hosted applications. The role emphasizes continuous improvement and innovation in software development, particularly in the financial technology sector.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including business analysts, product owners, developers, testers, and architects, to align solutions with our business vision.
  • Work directly with third-party vendors to define technical requirements, customize configurations, and implement solutions that seamlessly integrate with internal and external systems.
  • Support and troubleshoot technical issues in our hosted applications, ensuring smooth operation and quick resolution of any challenges.
  • Continuously enhance our DevOps practices, actively managing and improving our continuous integration and delivery processes.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies and trends, helping us stay ahead by using the best tools and techniques to maximize security and delivery speed.
  • Contribute to application vulnerability scanning initiatives, ensuring we address and resolve potential risks.
  • Support application performance testing and monitoring, making sure our systems are optimized and reliable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent combination of experience, education and military.
  • 3-5 years of professional Java development experience (Java 11+ preferred).
  • Proficiency in functional and non-blocking programming techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and Couchbase.
  • Experience with Spring and SpringBoot 3.0.
  • Understanding of key web application and API security vulnerabilities.
  • Familiarity with both Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Hands-on experience in API design and development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of security and fraud solutions, including data encryption, tokenization, and PCI/P2PE compliance.
  • Experience integrating Hardware Security Modules (HSM) and working with e-commerce platforms or payment service gateways.
  • Familiarity with POS (point of sale) hardware, software, and card payment readers.
  • Proficiency in Groovy, Python, C#, or shell scripting, along with experience integrating IoT devices with Java services.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, software development lifecycles like Kanban, and the Atlassian suite (Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence).
