About the position

The Senior Software Engineer, Java at Fiserv is responsible for providing expertise in project architecture, design, and system implementations. This role involves influencing the technical direction of the team, consulting on important projects, and designing applications to deliver enterprise solutions. The engineer will work on developing high-performance microservices and ensuring code quality while supporting existing business systems within an agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into a technical solution
  • Craft functional technical designs, business level documentation and code development
  • Develop high performance microservices and set high standards of code quality
  • Develop services and deploy them in multiple environments, including the inhouse Cloud Foundry platform, as well as on cloud provider architectures like AWS and Azure
  • Analyze performance issues using modern tools and focus on code quality with test engineers
  • Support existing business systems applications and demonstrate proficiency and leadership within agile methodologies

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle using agile methodologies
  • 8+ years of hands-on coding experience developing enterprise applications using Spring framework and Core Java
  • 5+ years of experience in software design principles and software architecture
  • 5+ years of experience building and supporting RESTful web services and microservices using Spring Boot
  • 5+ years of experience with back-end databases including PostgreSQL and Oracle or SQL
  • 5+ years of experience with Eclipse or IntelliJ and Unix scripting languages
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Java 17 and Spring Boot 3.0
  • Experience in working on end-to-end (E2E) solutions
  • Experience with DevOps Pipeline, GIT, JIRA, Confluence, Cloud Foundry, AWS, Splunk, Cloud Watch, and Xray
  • Knowledge of financial technologies, standards, and industry regulations (i.e., Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards)
  • Prior technical lead role experience
