About the position

Capgemini is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Looker Analytics with a focus on Video Gaming Analytics to join our dynamic team in San Francisco, California. This role is pivotal in driving data-driven decision-making across the organization by leveraging advanced analytics and visualization tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data-focused software development and a passion for the gaming industry. In this position, you will be responsible for the development of ELT processes to normalize source data, ensuring that our data is accurate and accessible. You will engage in Business Intelligence (BI) development using Looker to create views, explores, and dashboards that provide valuable insights into our operations. Daily updates to the Product Master will be necessary to map new products appearing in sales data to consistent, human-readable product names for reporting purposes. Additionally, you will handle operational updates in case of late data, ensuring that our reporting remains timely and relevant. A key aspect of this role is promoting a data-driven mindset across the organization. You will work closely with partner teams to help them access valuable data and utilize it effectively to drive their decisions. Your expertise in building data models and visualizations will be crucial in providing insights into complex systems, utilizing both existing data models and your own SQL queries. Furthermore, you will act as a liaison between our data modeling and data science teams, translating their technical achievements into practical data products that our partners can utilize effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop ELT processes to normalize source data.
  • Engage in BI development in Looker to create views, explores, and dashboards.
  • Perform daily updates to the Product Master for consistent product naming in reporting.
  • Handle operational updates for late data to ensure timely reporting.
  • Promote a data-driven mindset across the organization by assisting partner teams in data access and usage.
  • Build data models and visualizations to provide insights into complex systems using SQL queries.
  • Act as a conduit between data modeling and data science teams, translating technical achievements into usable data products.

Requirements

  • A BA/BS degree in computer science or a quantitative business field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in a data-focused software development or business role.
  • Proven skills in SQL for data access in complex database structures.
  • Experience with Looker for data modeling and visualization (preferred), or extensive skills in Tableau, PowerBI, or similar tools.
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical information clearly to colleagues.
  • Experience with R or Python for statistical analysis (bonus points).
