About the position

The Senior Machine Learning Engineer will play a crucial role in developing and implementing machine learning solutions that enhance the personalization and growth of DoorDash's retail and grocery delivery services. This position involves conceptualizing, designing, and validating algorithmic improvements to create a seamless consumer search experience across various retail categories. The role requires collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and mentoring junior members, all while leveraging robust data and machine learning infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Develop production machine learning solutions for personalized shopping experiences.
• Partner with engineering and product leaders to shape the product roadmap using machine learning.
• Mentor junior team members and lead cross-functional pods to create collective impact.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience developing machine learning models with business impact and shipping ML solutions to production.
• M.S. or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Operations Research, Physics, Economics, or other quantitative fields.
• Expertise in applied ML for Causal Inference and Recommendation Systems, both classical and deep learning based.
• Machine learning background in Python; experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow preferred.
• Ability to communicate technical details to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with explore/exploit/MAB algorithms & LLMs is a plus.
