About the position

The Senior Software Engineer, Machine Learning at Alloy is responsible for developing and enhancing machine learning capabilities to combat identity risk in financial products. This role involves architecting scalable systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the integration of machine learning into Alloy's product offerings. The position is pivotal in driving real-time fraud detection and risk management solutions, contributing to the company's mission of enabling financial institutions to serve their customers confidently.

Responsibilities

  • Architect scalable, fault-tolerant batch and real-time systems to power machine learning systems.
  • Work across teams to identify relevant data for signal extraction and integrate it into systems.
  • Build and manage the interface between the machine learning system and the Alloy application.
  • Develop machine learning systems optimized for low latency and high availability.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Data Scientists to create machine learning algorithms.
  • Design clean interfaces and well-tested systems.
  • Participate in hardening feature generation systems, both real-time and batch, using technologies like Flink, Kinesis, and Sagemaker.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for system maintenance.
  • Stay updated with industry developments in machine learning.

Requirements

  • Experience deploying machine learning models to external-facing applications.
  • Experience with production deployment, including best SDLC practices, CI/CD, and IaC.
  • Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, or Spark.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience writing production-level code as a software/data engineer, with at least 2+ years of experience building product features leveraging machine learning.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one machine learning framework (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Proficient in writing Python, Terraform, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure and highly scalable application architectures.
  • Ability to give thorough code reviews and assist engineers in solving bugs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with TypeScript.
  • Some experience with Java/Scala.
