In Core OS, we are responsible for the Operating System that powers Azure, Linux OS, the platform for Windows Client and Xbox, and our Windows Server ecosystem. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Media Audio. You will be a member of an experienced team that is responsible for collaborating with internal and external partners to solve challenging problems in the Audio domain. Your work will include building new OS features and driver frameworks to push forward the latest audio hardware technology, debugging challenging problems to improve end-user reliability, and helping to shape the future of the entire Windows Audio platform. A good understanding of Audio/Media concepts and Windows device driver development experience are valuable. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement components within the Windows Audio system.
  • Implement features with high quality using automated functional, performance, and stress testing.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to build features that enable the latest audio hardware technology.
  • Work closely with external partners, end-users, and support teams to debug and drive issues to closure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in deep design, coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • 2+ years of experience working with Audio concepts (audio software, middleware, driver, or firmware).
  • 2+ years of experience with Windows device driver development including WDF (Windows Driver Framework).
  • Ability to meet customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of Windows Media concepts (media pipeline, codec, and API).
  • Understanding of the Windows Audio system.
