About the position

As a Senior Software Engineer at GEICO, you will play a pivotal role in the development of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) solutions for Data Center and Hybrid Cloud environments. This position involves designing, implementing, and troubleshooting high-quality software components that ensure robust network performance and security. You will collaborate with various engineering teams and mentor junior members, contributing to the overall innovation and efficiency of the technology organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software components for Software-Defined Networking in Data Center and Hybrid Multi-Cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to address complex network challenges.
  • Lead the implementation of software components for data protection, disaster recovery, and security protocols.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues related to SDN to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Ensure continuous improvement through testing in a CI/CD framework for security, stability, and scalability.
  • Utilize programming languages such as C, Python, and GoLang, and container services like Docker.
  • Mentor junior team members on cloud infrastructure and best practices in network system management.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with systems architecture and design.
  • 3+ years of experience in open-source network solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience working with hyper scale cloud provider solutions.
  • Excellent coding skills and ability to design, develop, test, and operate in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Familiarity with Software-Defined network architectures and solutions, including open source SONiC and traditional network protocols like BGP.
  • Solid knowledge of network protocols and forwarding for Switch and experience with hardware programming.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and programming languages such as C/C#, Java, Python, and GoLang.
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and troubleshooting skills for complex network issues.

  • Experience with virtualization technologies and their interaction with storage infrastructures.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues.
