About the position

The Senior Software Engineer for Portfolio Management Engineering will be a key member of the Investment Technologies group, focusing on developing innovative software solutions for the front office portfolio finance team. This role involves driving innovation, automating software pipelines, and addressing software issues critical to investment capabilities. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, team-oriented, and passionate about enhancing software architecture and development processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement software solutions in full stack development on an agile team.
  • Continuously deliver high quality code and identify potential areas for improvement.
  • Automate the software development, testing, and deployment process.
  • Write unit tests and perform code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
  • Design and develop cloud-native applications and REST-based APIs, deploying them to AWS using modern cloud services.
  • Embrace development best practices like continuous delivery, test automation, and containerized deployments.
  • Collaborate with developers, DBAs, network engineers, and third-party vendors/consultants.
  • Engage with business and technology leaders to understand strategy, articulate solution options, evaluate tradeoffs, and influence key decisions.
  • Create and maintain thorough and professional systems and support documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software development and apply them to projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of programming experience, preferably in financial applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong background in modern, cloud-based architecture, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming, with adherence to SOLID design principles.
  • Experience with unit testing, isolation frameworks, and behavior-driven development.
  • Experience with developing applications for cloud, preferably AWS.
  • Experience with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Technology stack development experience in web development using React, Angular, or similar technologies.
  • Server-side development in Python, C# (.Net Core), and Web API, REST API.
  • Back-end development using T-SQL.
  • Experience with AWS Services: S3, Lambda, RDS, EC2, EKS, DynamoDB, Step Functions, API Gateway, Glue, Lake Formation, Cloud Watch.
  • Great communication and organizational skills, drive, energy, enthusiasm, maturity, and confidence.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with developing full stack financial applications.
  • Experience with messaging frameworks like RabbitMQ, Kafka, Pulsar.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitLab.
  • Experience with the ELK stack.
  • Experience with high performance computing.
  • Experience with observability in dynamic IT environments.
