About the position

As a Software Engineer at Google, you will be responsible for developing next-generation technologies that enhance how billions of users connect and interact with information. This role involves working on critical projects that require versatility and leadership, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves. You will leverage your technical expertise to manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables while designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices are followed.
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt it based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve them by analyzing the sources of issues and their impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
  • 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience developing algorithms (ranking, recommendations, prediction, search quality, personalization) and software that generates suggestions based on various input and output targets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional and/or cross-business projects.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
