About the position

The position is within Gilead's Research Informatics group, focusing on connecting technology to scientific processes to support drug discovery projects. The role involves enhancing efficiency through software development and data management, ensuring that scientists have the necessary tools and data views to facilitate their research. The candidate will work closely with research scientists, utilizing scripting tools and managing software solutions to optimize drug discovery efforts.

Responsibilities

• Support scientific research within the Research department.
• Collaborate with research scientists on assay data processing and image processing.
• Use scripting tools (Python and Pipeline Pilot) to integrate or supplement project views.
• Support scientific computing environments in AWS.
• Manage day-to-day operations of Linux workstations and servers.
• Demonstrate tools and prepare user training and documentation for scientists.
• Implement and configure scientific software from vendors.
• Collaborate with the C# programming group for system development and integration.
• Manage documentation for deployed applications and support test scenarios.
• Collect enhancement requests and defect reports.
• Participate in the registration and curation of putative drugs, ensuring research data integrity.
• Propose and deploy metrics for software value and effectiveness.
• Prepare user training and documentation and provide end-user support.

Requirements

• 5+ years' relevant experience with BS/BA or 4+ years' relevant experience with MS/MA/MBA.
• Education in chemical or biological sciences or a related discipline is preferred.
• Some experience in the laboratory or with programming languages such as C# is encouraged.
• Experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies is desirable.
• Direct experience or strong familiarity with drug discovery technologies is a plus.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Capability to provide insights that improve processes and operations with software.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with AWS and cloud technologies.
• Familiarity with data analytics and visualization software.
• Knowledge of change management processes.
