About the position

The Senior Software Engineer role at Liberty Mutual focuses on leveraging cloud technologies, particularly within the AWS platform team. This position involves designing and delivering cloud platform development solutions while implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps practices. The engineer will work in an Agile environment, contributing to various projects and enhancements that support a multi-cloud implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Work with technical leads to design & enhance cloud platform services and products.
  • Interact with stakeholders and application development teams to understand requirements and provide technical support.
  • Contribute to technical alternatives based on complex product impact analysis.
  • Iteratively code high-quality, stable components & services.
  • Execute all levels of testing (system, functional, QA and regression) utilizing multiple testing solutions.
  • Engineer production support automations and knowledge management to enable developer self-service capabilities.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate continuous improvement opportunities for your team.
  • Participate in support and on-call rotations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' software engineering experience.
  • Deep knowledge in Java/Spring, Python, Splunk, CDK.
  • Experience building service-based solutions for cloud-based platforms.
  • Familiarity with Postman, VS code tools, and Spring Boot (or comparable development languages) Integrated Developer Environments (IDE).
  • Core AWS Service components: Lambda, RDS, SQS, IAM, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFormation or Terraform, EventBridge.
  • Service-based (API) development experience.
  • DevOps experience utilizing the Git Suite and GitHub Actions.
  • Knowledge of native cloud solution development and platform configuration.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide tools, solutions, and support.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of CloudForge ecosystem/tools is helpful.
  • Powershell, Bash/Shell scripts a plus.
  • Familiarity supporting OCF-based apps.
