About the position

As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in System Release and DevOps at Capital One, you will play a crucial role in transforming the technology landscape of the organization. This position involves planning, implementing, and managing AWS cloud infrastructure while collaborating with Agile teams to deliver robust cloud-based solutions. You will be at the forefront of driving innovation and solving complex business problems in a fast-paced, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and grow the AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Build, release, and manage production systems, troubleshooting system issues as they arise.
  • Configure and maintain Amazon Web Solutions, providing support for clients.
  • Collaborate with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions.
  • Stay updated on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and mentor other engineers.
  • Work with digital product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions that enhance user experiences.
  • Utilize programming languages and tools such as Java, Python, SQL, Ruby, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in DevOps Engineering (Internship experience does not apply).
  • At least 2 years of experience with Cloud Native technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • At least 2 years of Unix or Linux system administration experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of experience in System Release Engineering (Pyspark, Yaml, AWS services, Jenkins, IAM roles, Serverless Framework/Lambda & ECS Fargate).
  • 2+ years of experience in at least one programming language: JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go.
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS.
  • Experience using DevOps tools in a cloud environment, such as Ansible, Artifactory, GitHub, Jenkins, and Kubernetes.
  • 3+ years of experience in open source frameworks.
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.
  • 2+ years of experience with Terraform or Ansible.
  • 2+ years of experience with container orchestration services including Docker or Kubernetes.
