About the position

Snapsheet is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Virtual Appraisals team, focusing on enhancing their internal claims platform. This role involves improving software automation, collaborating with various teams, and contributing to the technical design processes to streamline the claims process.

Responsibilities

• Enhance the estimating tool to automate workflows and boost productivity.
• Contribute to technical design processes and provide improvement suggestions.
• Play a role in growing Snapsheet as an industry leader in technology.
• Participate in agile practices including weekly stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Challenge scopes, flag issues, and suggest alternatives proactively.
• Collaborate with engineers, product management, and design to solve complex problems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend-focused web development experience.
• Experience in designing and building APIs.
• Ability to design schemas and performant queries for relational databases.
• Understanding of scalability challenges and performance of server-side code.
• Prior experience using Ruby on Rails is a plus.
• Eagerness to learn and work collaboratively with a team.
• Commitment to quality and passion for technology.
• Ability to manage tasks and contribute to multiple initiatives during a sprint.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies.
