About the position

As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a team focused on enhancing developer interactions with technology, particularly in the realm of AI computing. This role involves driving significant projects that shape the future of technology for millions of developers, requiring a blend of technical contributions and leadership skills. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop and launch innovative AI technologies and products, impacting users' lives positively.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with senior leadership and stakeholders to define and drive the multi-year technical agenda for the team.
• Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals.
• Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
• Partner closely with Researchers across Alphabet to build emerging AI capabilities and technologies for coding/software engineers.
• Develop the long-term technical outlook and roadmap within and beyond the scope of your teams.
• Evolve the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements and needs.
• Contribute direct technical work as required by the team to succeed, from ideating and running experiments to enhance model performance to end-to-end software development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role overseeing strategic projects.
• 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
• 5 years of experience working in a matrixed organization.
• Experience with Machine Learning technologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 3 years of direct experience developing and launching ML based product workflows.
• 3 years of experience with ML frameworks and infrastructure.
• Zero-to-one experience as a Technical Lead or Manager.
• Experience driving large projects distributed across multiple organizations and teams.
• Experience developing/using Machine Learning models for Code, NLP, or Vision.
