About the position

As a Senior Software Engineering Manager at Google, you will lead a team focused on AI innovation and research, driving meaningful change in the developer community. This role involves shaping the future of technology that impacts millions of developers, managing ambitious projects, and making direct technical contributions. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to build and develop advanced AI technologies, turning innovative ideas into finished products that enhance user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with senior leadership and stakeholders to define and drive the multi-year technical agenda for the team.
• Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals.
• Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
• Partner closely with Researchers across Alphabet to build emerging AI capabilities and technologies for coding/software engineers.
• Develop the long-term technical outlook and roadmap within and beyond the scope of your teams.
• Contribute direct technical work as required by the team, from ideating and running experiments to enhance model performance to end-to-end software development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role overseeing strategic projects.
• 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
• 5 years of experience working in a matrixed organization.
• Experience with Machine Learning technologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 3 years of direct experience developing and launching ML based product workflows.
• 3 years of experience with ML frameworks and infrastructure.
• Zero-to-one experience as a Technical Lead or Manager.
• Experience driving large projects distributed across multiple organizations and teams.
• Experience developing/using Machine Learning models for Code, NLP, or Vision.
