About the position

GEICO's Infrastructure and Capacity Planning is looking for a Senior Manager to lead a new team of engineers focused on developing engineering solutions for cloud cost modeling and capacity optimization. This role is pivotal in ensuring optimal cloud capacity across various environments, including On-prem, Azure, and AWS, and aims to enhance customer experience through technology transformation.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of cost reporting for all hybrid multi-cloud environments.
• Define requirements for automating cloud cost modeling and optimization processes.
• Lead Hybrid Cloud FinOps processes, including financial forecasting for cloud services.
• Partner with stakeholders to provide visibility on cloud infrastructure spend and optimization activities.
• Ensure service levels are met through operational reviews and ongoing cadence.
• Collaborate with various teams to design and implement strategies and technology roadmaps.
• Provide detailed analysis of cloud spend components.
• Offer financial consultation to application teams regarding cloud migration costs.
• Identify required roles and skills, and help develop the team through training and coaching.
• Share best practices and improve processes across teams.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience as a Software Engineering Manager with a strong understanding of Cloud services and DevOps principles.
• Experience managing different cloud billing and reduction models.
• Expertise in cloud cost billing schema and utilization data for various cloud service providers (CSPs).
• In-depth knowledge of cloud infrastructures, capabilities, and security models.
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Fluency with Power BI and at least one modern programming language (Python, Java, Go).
• Experience with open-source software is a plus.
• Hands-on experience managing infrastructure components using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Experience with observability platforms and application monitoring tools.
