About the position

GEICO's Infrastructure and Capacity Planning is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to build and manage a new team of engineers focused on creating engineering solutions for Cloud Infrastructure. This role is pivotal in enabling optimal cloud capacity for application teams across a hybrid-cloud environment, including On-prem, Azure, and AWS. The Senior Manager will lead efforts to enhance customer experience and support GEICO's technology transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with application teams to translate their needs into infrastructure requirements.
• Influence and build vision with application owners to expedite product delivery.
• Own the end-to-end delivery of team strategy and execution.
• Develop and motivate teams to solve complex problems and advocate for open-source technologies.
• Engage in hands-on coding and build highly available systems.
• Build and mentor a new team of software engineers.
• Drive the team towards long-term goals while addressing high-priority technical debts efficiently.
• Act as a thought leader in Infrastructure & Capacity Planning, Supply Chain, Operational excellence, and DevOps Principles.
• Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams.

Requirements

• 6+ years of coding experience.
• 5+ years of development of tooling and engineering solutions in a large-scale, mission-critical environment.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience supervising personnel in a technical environment.
• 5+ years of experience with a public cloud service (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.
• Strong understanding of Cloud services and DevOps principles.
• Fluency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Java, Go).
• Experience managing infrastructure components through Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible.
• Strong technical acumen in Cloud Architecture, Performance Benchmarking, Capacity planning, and Reliability tools.
• Expertise in Container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) and OS optimization.
• Experience with Observability platforms and application monitoring tools.
