About the position

The Software Process Support Engineer at Raytheon plays a crucial role in enhancing and optimizing software development processes. This position involves collaborating with engineering, quality assurance, and project management teams to ensure efficient operations and continuous improvement in engineering practices. The engineer will focus on process improvement, compliance with DoD standards, and quality assurance throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Identify areas for improvement in software development and deployment processes.
  • Recommend and implement changes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Manage and verify DoD-compliant trusted downloads to meet compliance and security standards.
  • Provide support to development teams, troubleshooting process-related issues and guiding best practices.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, ensuring alignment with company standards and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to integrate quality control measures and testing practices within the development process.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on key performance metrics related to process efficiency, quality, and productivity.
  • Provide general support to software development teams in the development, maintenance, and sustainment of software products.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Experience in software development, particularly in a support or process engineering capacity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for tracking, reporting, and documentation.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or related process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with common DoD standards, such as NIST, DFARS, and CMMC.
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles and experience with automation tools.
  • Experience with DoD compliance and security standards, particularly in managing and verifying DoD-compliant trusted downloads.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
