About the position

The Senior Software QA (Automation) Engineer at Whole Foods Market is responsible for ensuring the performance, resilience, and production readiness of the Point of Sale (POS) system through comprehensive functional and non-functional testing. This role involves close collaboration with engineering teams to enhance software reliability and quality, ultimately ensuring a seamless customer experience free from bugs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and automate functional/integration and performance tests for the POS system.
• Collaborate on automation strategies to streamline test coverage.
• Automate the collection, analysis, and reporting of test results.
• Validate test results and analyze calling patterns using research and analytical skills.
• Design and implement test scenarios and cases to simulate real-world scenarios across various testing environments.
• Work closely with engineering and application teams to identify and address high-impact issues.

Requirements

• Professional programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java or Python.
• Strong knowledge of software testing, debugging, and QA techniques.
• Experience with automation and performance testing, as well as QA best practices.
• Ability to analyze and simulate workload patterns for testing.
• Proficient at debugging complex issues across hardware, OS, virtualization, and services.
• Willingness and ability to learn new tools, languages, and operating systems with minimal guidance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with load testing and APM tools, such as JMeter and Splunk.
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Knowledge of assessing application resilience and performance.
• Experience with Retail POS, Payments systems, and API/back-end integration testing.
