About the position

The Senior Software Systems Analyst Programmer will serve as a key liaison between clients and software/hardware vendors, as well as between internal and external agencies. This role involves troubleshooting applications and systems, coordinating system upgrades, monitoring system performance, and providing technical assistance to application developers. The position requires a strong background in mainframe technologies and the ability to develop operational standards and management reports.

Responsibilities

• Act as a liaison between clients and software/hardware vendors.
• Respond to mainframe inquiries from internal and external agencies.
• Troubleshoot applications and systems in collaboration with application developers.
• Coordinate system upgrades and maintenance with Kyndryl and Client.
• Monitor system performance, identify root causes for issues, and make recommendations to management and MaaS provider.
• Coordinate proposed changes with the MaaS provider and Client employees.
• Communicate system outages effectively.
• Attend weekly meetings and participate in the Change Control Board.
• Develop operational standards and provide technical assistance to application developers and operations personnel.
• Design, implement, and customize various mainframe technology solutions.
• Develop and implement standards and procedures for mainframe technical solutions.
• Interact with customers and provide regular management reports and analysis.
• Assist in WLM tuning and Sysplex activities.

Requirements

• Five years of experience in an MVS or z/OS IBM mainframe environment.
• Two plus years of experience supporting System Programmers and Administrators.
• In-depth experience with mainframe technologies including z/OS, Cobol, Assembler, CICS, IMS DB/DC, DB2, TSO, ISPF, JES2, JCL, SMP/E, SMF, RMF.
• Experience with BMC Tools, CA Tools, Storage Devices, WebSphere, MQ Series, VTAM, RACF, TCPIP.
• Knowledge of HCD, LPAR management, Workload Manager, and other z/OS subsystems.
• Demonstrated experience in Storage technologies and administration.
• Working knowledge of OMVS and its components.
