About the position

The Senior Software Test Engineer at Vicarious Surgical will be a key member of the Software Test Team, responsible for driving test development efforts for the software controlling a novel surgical robot. This role involves close collaboration with the Integration team and requires expertise in both manual and automated testing within an agile development environment. The engineer will contribute to the overall goal of enhancing surgical efficiency, improving patient outcomes, and reducing healthcare costs through innovative robotics technology.

Responsibilities

  • Developing test scenarios, test protocols and test scripts
  • Executing manual and automated software test procedures to verify requirements
  • Identifying the tests for Manual and Automated testing and plan the overall test and regression suite
  • Participate in requirements review for testability
  • Implement continuous testing during Sprint and regression testing at appropriate milestones during development
  • Report defects, tracking re-verification and closing
  • Plan and Perform formal software V & V testing during the V & V phase
  • Support early testing and assist scrum teams in determining key findings and collaborate to enhance the overall system's design
  • Develop verification and validation of test tools where required and in advance of formal DV schedules
  • Support technical reviews and participate in system design reviews
  • Participate and own the development of testing infrastructure for Manual as well Automated Tests

Requirements

  • Bachelors or equivalent in any scientific or technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing of complex electromechanical device in the medical device industry
  • Strong command over IEC62304 and excellent familiarity with TIR45
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work very well with geographically distributed teams
  • Has worked in an Agile/Scrum environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with C/C++/Python or Java
  • Experience with RTI DDS, QNX and SafeRTOS
  • Prior experience testing robotic software systems within the medical/surgical robotics space
  • Experience with test management tools like Jama or similar
  • Previous verification or validation experience in medical device projects from early development through commercialization
