About the position

The Senior Software Tester at Net Vision Consultants, Inc. is responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of software applications through comprehensive testing methodologies. This role involves collaborating with software development teams, analyzing project environments, and developing automated tests to identify defects and improve software quality. The position emphasizes continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies, contributing to the company's mission of delivering innovative solutions in support of national security.

Responsibilities

  • Review, learn and understand software and application functionality as necessary to properly test specific feature capabilities
  • Work with the software development team to troubleshoot and remediate issues in production environments
  • Analyze and understand each project's environment, architecture, and interdependencies to determine and apply appropriate test methodologies and cases relative to applications being tested
  • Utilize the selected defect tracking and test case management system to document test sets, record defects and record test case execution results
  • Attend information sessions that pertain to newly developed Features
  • Provide accurate feedback during review of documents
  • Write scripts for automated testing of application functionality
  • Work closely with project managers and the software development team to understand how features in a software development project should function and who will use them
  • Create test scenarios designed to verify functionality and to challenge how well a feature set meets the expectations for its design
  • Identify potentially affecting the quality of a feature and provide clear information to assist in decision-making related to these software products
  • Develop automated functional tests using Selenium, Cucumber, Protractor and other modern testing frameworks
  • Identify and document software defects and ensure consistency with an established QA automation
  • Design, modify, develop, write and implement software test cases, plans and reports

Requirements

  • TS/SCI w/ Polygraph
  • Experience working in a fast paced web application development is preferred
  • Experience using multiple testing protocols/methods
  • Excellent problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills, type and complexity within the Federal Government is required
  • Ability to comprehend complex usage concepts and assess an application's ability to fulfill them
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to positively interact with the customer and team members
  • Expert knowledge of manual and automated testing of web applications including testing of front end, RESTful web services, and backend functionality
  • Experience developing test plans, requirements, traceability matrix and test reports
  • Proficient experience of Selenium and Protractor QA automation frameworks
  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant QA engineering experience
  • Must have expertise in manual and automated testing of REST API services
  • Must have 3+ years of experience in coding using object-oriented programming languages
  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant QA engineering experience
  • Must have 3+ years of experience coding in languages such as JavaScript, Ruby, Python or Java

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
  • Good understanding of test-driven development and behavior driven development
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Take ownership and work independently on large portions of a project with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated work experience with Source Code Management {e.g. Git, Stash, or Subversion, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively with a team on complex projects with strict requirements
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills
