About the position

Citizens Financial Group, Inc. (CFG) is seeking a Senior Solution Engineer to join their team in Johnston, RI. This role is pivotal in the development, implementation, and support of the Finance Data Mart, which is essential for ensuring that economic capital calculations and reports align with business requirements. The Senior Solution Engineer will engage in various stages of the software development lifecycle, including planning, analysis, detailed design, development, testing, and implementation of program components. This comprehensive approach ensures that the solutions developed are robust and meet the evolving needs of the business. In this position, the Senior Solution Engineer will collaborate closely with reporting teams, business lines, source system owners, and other stakeholders to identify the necessary data for developing both technical and business process solutions. A significant aspect of the role involves supporting the production SAS environment, ensuring that monthly and quarterly processes execute efficiently and reliably. The engineer will also provide month-end and quarter-end production support, addressing any issues that arise and providing timely resolutions. Additionally, the role includes automating and scheduling recurring reports to enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in SAS programming and data management, with a focus on ensuring data integrity and accuracy in financial reporting. This position offers the flexibility of telecommuting from any U.S. location, allowing for a balanced work-life integration while contributing to the organization's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and support the Finance Data Mart.
  • Perform planning, analysis, detailed design, development, testing, and implementation of program components.
  • Collaborate with reporting teams, business lines, and source system owners to identify required data.
  • Support the production SAS environment, ensuring efficient execution of monthly and quarterly processes.
  • Provide month and quarter end production support and resolutions.
  • Automate and schedule recurring reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in the role or in a related position, or a Master's degree with three (3) years of experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience utilizing base SAS, including SAS syntax, keywords, and statements.
  • Experience with SAS Macros and processor facility to create dynamic routines and flows.
  • Experience utilizing Proc SQL and SAS Procedures to interact with SAS datasets and perform complex joins.
  • Experience sourcing data using DB2 for processes and applications.
  • Experience with AIX UNIX platform and UNIX commands.
  • Experience utilizing Korn shell scripting language for coding program wrappers or scripts.
  • Experience using VI editor within UNIX to develop UNIX scripts.
  • Experience with Putty and Winscp for secure copies between machines.
  • Experience utilizing TIBCO mailbox for data transmission and enterprise encryption.
  • Experience with Scheduler CA7 to schedule and automate jobs and scripts.
