About the position

Citizens Financial Group, Inc. (CFG) is seeking a Senior Solution Engineer to join their team in Johnston, RI. This role is pivotal in the development, implementation, and support of the Finance Data Mart, which is essential for ensuring that economic capital calculations and reports align with business requirements. The Senior Solution Engineer will engage in a variety of tasks including planning, analysis, detailed design, development, testing, and implementation of program components. This comprehensive approach ensures that the solutions developed are robust and meet the evolving needs of the business. In this position, the engineer will collaborate closely with reporting teams, business lines, source system owners, and other stakeholders to identify the necessary data for developing both technical and business process solutions. A significant aspect of the role involves supporting the production SAS environment, ensuring that monthly and quarterly processes execute efficiently and reliably. The engineer will also provide essential month-end and quarter-end production support, addressing any issues that arise and providing timely resolutions. Additionally, the role includes automating and scheduling recurring reports to enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in SAS programming and data management, with a focus on ensuring data integrity and accuracy in financial reporting. This position offers the flexibility of telecommuting from any U.S. location, allowing for a balanced work-life integration while contributing to a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and support the Finance Data Mart.
  • Perform planning, analysis, detailed design, development, testing, and implementation of program components.
  • Collaborate with reporting teams, business lines, source system owners, and other groups to identify required data.
  • Support the production SAS environment, ensuring efficient and reliable execution of monthly and quarterly processes.
  • Provide month and quarter end production support and resolutions.
  • Automate and schedule recurring reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or related field, followed by five (5) years of progressive experience in the role or in a related position.
  • Master's degree in the same fields and three (3) years of experience in the role or in a related position is also acceptable.
  • Two (2) years of experience utilizing base SAS, including SAS syntax, keywords, and statements to develop raw code for applications.
  • Experience utilizing SAS Macros and processor facility to create dynamic routines and flows.
  • Experience utilizing Proc SQL and SAS Procedures to interact with SAS datasets, and to query and perform complex joins to support reporting, aggregating, debugging, and analysis.
  • Experience utilizing DB2 to source data for processes, applications, and downstream users.
  • Experience utilizing AIX UNIX platform as SAS grid and to house SAS and critical datasets, including use of UNIX commands and terminologies.
  • Experience utilizing the Korn shell scripting language to code program wrappers or scripts for UNIX AIX environment.
  • Experience utilizing VI editor within UNIX to develop UNIX scripts.
  • Experience utilizing Putty and Winscp to perform secure copies between different machines.
  • Experience utilizing TIBCO mailbox to transmit data to downstream applications and users and ensure enterprise encryption during flight.
  • Experience utilizing Scheduler CA7 to schedule and automate jobs and scripts.
