About the position

The Sr. Business Development Manager at Constellation is responsible for generating, developing, and managing customer relationships related to the company's suite of sustainability products and services. This role involves prospecting and qualifying new customers, setting appointments, and closing and renewing contracts to meet financial targets. The position requires a strong understanding of sustainability challenges and the ability to align customer needs with Constellation's solutions, particularly in carbon accounting and emissions reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage internal and external relationships to support Carbon Accounting and Advisory Sales opportunities.
  • Prospect customers by creating and leveraging lists of potential customers, identifying appropriate contacts, and performing appropriate diligence in advance of customer reach out.
  • Close new customers by fostering value-additive relationships with decision makers, collecting and documenting information pertaining to level of service for contract execution and implementation.
  • Develop expert understanding of Scope 1, Scope 2 & Scope 3 emissions, reporting frameworks including Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Carbon Disclosure Project, and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
  • Demonstrate outstanding communication skills with the ability to speak in front of groups and senior decision makers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience in retail energy or sustainability, in a sales, marketing, finance, consulting, or product management capacity.
  • 3+ years of B2B customer facing experience in Sustainability, ESG, Carbon Accounting, Energy or Utility industries.
  • Existing familiarity of sustainability and energy industry with interest in solving customers' sustainability challenges.
  • Self-motivation, including willingness to take on a broad range of responsibilities and make decisions in a manner consistent with Constellation values.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, strong presentation ability and highly organized.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and experience using databases.
  • Candidate must have access to a home office as there will be no regional field office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with energy and sustainability (understanding of units of measure, costs, contract structures).
  • Degree in field relevant to finance, economics, engineering or sustainability.
  • Success in selling complex solutions in fast changing market environment with fast sales cycles.
