About the position

The Senior Solutions Data Engineer at Nike's Global Places & Services (GPS) organization is responsible for designing, developing, and managing data products and datasets that empower GPS capabilities. This role focuses on delivering governed technology solutions that enable the consumption of location-based data across Nike's enterprise. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between data users and technology delivery teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration while driving innovation in data solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and manage data products and datasets for GPS capabilities.
  • Deliver governed technology solutions to empower GPS operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and clarify requirements.
  • Provide technical engineering delivery of location-related data to drive actionable insights.
  • Lead meetings and provide guidance to teammates and stakeholders.
  • Work within engineering squads to gather requirements and deliver solutions on the Databricks platform.
  • Standardize patterns in data product development and support both project and production work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.
  • 5+ years of experience as an application engineer focused on data product engineering.
  • Experience with analytics technologies such as Snowflake and Databricks, and cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, GCP.
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, Java, Python, and PySpark.
  • Proficient in data profiling, analysis, and data modeling skills.
  • Solid understanding of modern data product solution architecture and data consumption patterns.
  • Proficient in DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and security administration.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to plan and execute engineering delivery.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Ability to mentor and guide teams while collaborating with business and technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with data governance models and best practices.
