This impact is our purpose and drives us to do better every day. We're seeking a strong technologist who will support and grow the Confluent stream processing solutions with our key customers. In this role, you will be the technical advisor to the sales team, work very closely with the product management and engineering teams, and serve as a vital product advocate in front of prospects, customers, and the wider Kafka and Flink communities. Successful Solutions Engineers may come from backgrounds such as Technical Account Managers, Sales Engineers, or Professional Services. In this position, you will engage with customers to understand their business challenges and technical requirements, guiding them through the adoption process of Apache Flink as part of the Confluent solutions offering. You will provide deep technical insights into both Apache Flink and Kafka, assisting the Confluent sales team in architecture design, deployment, and optimization of customer data streaming platforms. Collaboration across teams is essential, as you will work alongside sales, product management, and engineering teams to translate customer feedback into meaningful product enhancements and new features. Additionally, you will conduct workshops, webinars, and training sessions to educate customers on best practices and advanced features of using Apache Flink with the Confluent data streaming platform. Continuous improvement is key, and you will evolve and refine messaging, bringing back lessons learned in the field to collaborate with product management, marketing, and enablement teams.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with customers to understand their business challenges and technical requirements.
  • Guide clients through the adoption process of Apache Flink as part of the Confluent solutions offering.
  • Provide deep technical insights into Apache Flink and Kafka, assisting in architecture design, deployment, and optimization.
  • Collaborate with sales, product management, and engineering teams to translate customer feedback into product enhancements.
  • Conduct workshops, webinars, and training sessions to educate customers on best practices and advanced features of Apache Flink.
  • Evolve and refine messaging for prospects and customers, incorporating lessons learned in the field.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience architecting complex enterprise solutions for customers and/or partners.
  • Experience with messaging, stream processing, and ETL products commonly used in the enterprise.
  • Experience as a Solutions Engineer or Technical Account Manager.
  • Experience operating within and across cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, sales, and marketing.
  • Ability to quickly learn, understand, and work with new and emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions.
  • Some experience in Java or Python and familiarity with developing ETL applications.
  • Bachelor's level degree in Computer Science or relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Apache Flink and/or other stream processing technologies.
  • Experience as a Technical Sales/Systems Engineer in a cloud environment or equivalent experience in a customer and/or partner-facing role.
  • Experience designing and building big data, stream processing, and/or other distributed systems for Fortune 1000 companies.
  • Experience working with global teams.
