About the position

The Regional Sales Manager for SLED and Mid Market at Splunk is a pivotal role focused on expanding and growing territories within the Public Sector. This position requires a dynamic individual who can leverage their sales, negotiation, and leadership skills to effectively prospect and generate leads, ultimately selling Splunk's award-winning software to Mid Market accounts. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in software or services sales, particularly within the SLED (State, Local, Education) sector, and will excel in building and maintaining beneficial, long-lasting relationships with customers. In this role, you will be responsible for following up on inbound leads and providing status updates through the company’s CRM system. You will engage in outbound prospecting and lead generation, qualifying leads specifically for K-12 School Districts, Higher Education Universities, and various public sector entities such as cities, counties, and utilities in the North East region. Scheduling product demonstrations for qualified customers will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will managing accounts by fostering client relationships through personalized contact and a deep understanding of their needs. You will be expected to accurately forecast opportunities based on realistic assessments and meet or exceed assigned revenue goals. Collaboration with a field representative and supporting attendance at field marketing events, including Splunk Lives and regional trade shows, will also be part of your duties. This role is designed for a self-starter who can work independently while also contributing to a team environment, ensuring that Splunk continues to be a leader in the digital security and observability space.

Responsibilities

  • Inbound lead follow-up and status update through the company CRM system
  • Outbound prospecting/Lead generation
  • Qualify inbound and outbound leads for K-12 School Districts, Higher Education Universities, Cities, Counties, Utilities companies in the North East region
  • Schedule product demos for qualified customers
  • Manage accounts by building and fostering client relationships through personalized contact, understanding of client's needs, and ability to communicate solution values of products and services
  • Accurately forecast opportunities based upon realistic assessments
  • Meet/exceed assigned revenue goals
  • Partner with a field representative
  • Support attendance to all field marketing events to include, but not limited to Splunk Lives, our National Users Conference and all regional trade shows.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in selling enterprise IT solutions (BI, data analytics, security software, risk management software or networking performance)
  • 1+ years of experience in selling enterprise IT Solutions to SLED accounts ideally
  • At least 1 or more years of field sales experience selling enterprise IT solutions
  • Successful in finding and uncovering new opportunities with prospects and existing business, cold calling and hunting for business
  • Proven track record of exceeding goals and quota
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills
  • Strong computer skills - CRM system, Word, Excel, Salesforce a plus
  • Self-starter able to work independently but also a contributing member of a team
