About the position

Confluent Solutions Engineers play a pivotal role in the technical evaluation stage of the sales process, making them essential to customer success as real-time data streams gain importance in modern enterprises. In this position, you will collaborate with account representatives to act as the technical advisor on the sales team, working closely with product management and engineering teams. You will serve as a vital product advocate in front of prospects, customers, and the broader Kafka and Data Streaming communities. As a trusted advisor, you will engage with Confluent customers ranging from executives to practitioners, assisting them in technical design and solution development. You will maintain a deep familiarity with the Kafka roadmap and its ecosystem, enabling you to navigate roadblocks and inform customers of upcoming fixes or workarounds. Your responsibilities will also include clearly articulating Confluent's technical and product positioning to stakeholders and building strong relationships throughout the sales cycle and beyond. In this role, you will gain experience with distributed systems and infrastructure software, including databases, message queues, data-focused SaaS, or Big Data products. You will design modern data architectures and define Mutual Action Plans to drive incremental success during pilot projects. Additionally, you will gather a comprehensive understanding of the customer's entire data estate and identify new opportunities to leverage the Digital Streaming Platform to enhance ROI. Presenting confidently to a skilled audience, including enterprise architects and C-level executives, will be a key aspect of your role. You will also serve as a conduit for product feedback from customers and champion new features that benefit your clients.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical evaluation stage of the sales process.
  • Partner with account representatives as a technical advisor on the sales team.
  • Work closely with product management and engineering teams.
  • Serve as a product advocate in front of prospects and customers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of sales engineering work experience in the LATAM market.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English; Portuguese is a plus.
  • Experience with data integration or application architecture.
  • Strong technical knowledge, preferably with a CS degree or as a cloud architect/administrator.
  • Demonstrated self-starter behavior and a desire to learn new things.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience building solutions with Apache Kafka.
  • Confluent Certified Developer or Confluent Certified Administrator certification.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes operations and cloud-based distributed computing.
