About the position

Confluent Solutions Engineers play a pivotal role in the technical evaluation stage of the sales process, making them essential to customer success as real-time data streams gain importance in modern enterprises. In this position, you will collaborate with account representatives to act as the technical advisor on the sales team, working closely with product management and engineering teams. You will also serve as a vital product advocate in front of prospects, customers, and the broader Kafka and Data Streaming communities. As a trusted advisor to Confluent customers, ranging from executives to practitioners, you will assist them in undertaking technical design and developing their solutions. You will maintain familiarity with the roadmap of Kafka and its surrounding ecosystem, enabling you to navigate roadblocks and inform customers of upcoming fixes or workarounds. Your responsibilities will include clearly articulating Confluent's technical and product positioning to stakeholders and forging strong relationships with them throughout the sales cycle and beyond. In this role, you will gain experience with distributed systems and infrastructure software, including databases, message queues, data-focused SaaS, or Big Data products. You will design modern data architectures and define Mutual Action Plans to drive incremental success during pilot projects. Additionally, you will gather a deep understanding of the customer's entire data estate and identify new opportunities to leverage the Digital Streaming Platform to increase ROI. You will confidently present to a highly skilled audience, including technical and business stakeholders such as enterprise architects and C-level executives, and serve as a conduit for product feedback from customers, championing new features for them.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical evaluation stage of the sales process as a Solutions Engineer.
  • Partner with account representatives to provide technical advice during the sales cycle.
  • Work closely with product management and engineering teams to advocate for the product.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, assisting with technical design and solution development.
  • Maintain familiarity with the Kafka roadmap and surrounding ecosystem to inform customers of fixes or workarounds.
  • Articulate Confluent's technical and product positioning to stakeholders clearly.
  • Design modern data architectures and define Mutual Action Plans for pilot projects.
  • Gather a deep understanding of the customer's data estate to identify new opportunities for leveraging the Digital Streaming Platform.
  • Present confidently to technical and business stakeholders, including enterprise architects and C-level executives.
  • Act as a conduit for product feedback from customers and champion new features.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of sales engineering work experience in the LATAM market.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English; Portuguese is a plus.
  • Experience with data integration or application architecture.
  • Strong technical knowledge, preferably with a CS degree or as a cloud architect/administrator.
  • Demonstrated self-starter behavior and a desire to learn new things and tackle hard technical problems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience building solutions with Apache Kafka.
  • Confluent Certified Developer or Confluent Certified Administrator certification.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes operations and cloud-based distributed computing.
