About the position

The Senior Solutions Engineer at Cloudera is a customer-facing role responsible for managing the technical sales process from initial meetings through post-sales support. This position focuses on understanding customer needs, designing tailored solutions using Cloudera technologies, and demonstrating product value to drive sales and customer satisfaction. The role requires collaboration with account managers and other teams to ensure a unified approach to customer engagement and advocacy.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical sales process from introductory meetings through post-sales support.
  • Support the technical needs of customers by discovering new use cases for Cloudera's technology.
  • Design solutions for customer needs using Cloudera technologies based on reference architectures.
  • Demonstrate Cloudera products to inspire customer commitment.
  • Partner with Account Managers to showcase the value of Cloudera solutions and drive successful sales.
  • Present product roadmap and vision to encourage customers to think bigger.
  • Interface with other Cloudera teams to ensure consistent communication to customers.
  • Advocate for customer needs to Product Management and Engineering.
  • Participate in external publicity and evangelism through conferences, meetups, webinars, and blogs.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years experience in a customer-facing role, ideally in a pre-sales context.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to create and deliver technical presentations and demonstrations.
  • Experience with Big Data, Data Warehousing, or Relational Databases.
  • Familiarity with one or more major cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience in Data Engineering, Data Science, or Machine Learning.
  • Knowledge of Operations, Security, and Data Governance within the enterprise.
  • Experience with Unix or Linux.
  • Experience gathering and understanding customer business requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn and a drive to make customers successful.

Nice-to-haves

  • Formal certification in cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
