About the position

MTSI is seeking a Senior Program Management and Acquisition Support (PM&AS) specialist to contribute to the development of innovative space vehicles and missions. This role requires a candidate with technical expertise in designing, building, and integrating hardware and software for space systems, as well as external systems necessary for mission success. The position emphasizes teamwork and leadership in a fast-paced environment, supporting the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO) at Kirtland AFB, NM, to deliver operationally dominant space capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO).
  • Serve as program advisory lead for time-critical technical projects and tasks.
  • Assist in acquisition planning, market research, and drafting technical requirements and documents.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to verify program needs and meet project goals.
  • Assess technical sufficiency, cost, quality, and timely delivery of program deliverables.
  • Provide technical advice and assist with problem resolution in collaboration with engineers.
  • Manage and execute programs consisting of multiple projects, ensuring efficient resource use.
  • Conduct data research and analysis to support management and engineering projects.
  • Develop and implement standard procedures for configuration management.
  • Maintain software/hardware management plans and procedures for accountability of all systems.
  • Prepare data formats, analyze data, and produce reports and documentation.
  • Track and maintain status documents and generate special reports as needed.
  • Assist in determining requirements for current and future projects.
  • Track and integrate Open Mission Systems and other standards for mission system integration.
  • Advise on integration across interfaces and coordinate with mission partners.
  • Ensure program documentation meets operational needs and supports delivery milestones.
  • Provide technical expertise for system and subsystem integration in space missions.
  • Draft, review, and edit program reports and documents.
  • Support acquisition planning and development of necessary documents for systems acquisition.
  • Coordinate with external agencies for seamless transition of Space RCO systems into operational frameworks.

Requirements

  • Minimum ten (10) years of DoD/IC or relevant industry work experience.
  • Skilled in development and fielding RF and satellite communication systems.
  • Experience with advanced RF and SATCOM Payloads.
  • Understanding of the space operational environment and mission user needs.
  • Knowledge of space mission payload engineering, development, and manufacturing.
  • Experience in DoD program management including program development and transition.
  • Experience with Integrated Master Schedules and risk management.
  • Experience with Statements of Work (SOW) and Performance Work Statements (PWS).

Nice-to-haves

  • Five (5) years of relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience with SAP/RSV and/or SCI.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping.
  • Experience with integrated air, space, and cyberspace capabilities.
  • Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining ground mission planning architecture and software.
  • Experience with ACAT I/II level acquisition programs.
  • Experience in planning and executing test campaigns for space systems.
  • Fluency with IC organizations.
