About the position

The Senior Specialist, Global Pay Services - North America at S&P Global is responsible for overseeing payroll operations for approximately 11,000 employees across North America. This role involves collaborating with a third-party payroll provider to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with regulatory standards, and continuous improvement of payroll operations. The position offers opportunities for professional growth and requires a high level of organization and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Support processing and disbursement of payrolls on time with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Plan, coordinate, and assist with payroll across North America, ensuring adherence to payroll cycles and deadlines.
  • Handle payrolls for exempt and non-exempt employees paid on a semi-monthly and weekly basis.
  • Conduct thorough review and analysis, ensuring accurate and timely processing of monthly payroll in accordance with company policies and local regulatory standards.
  • Partner with team members and payroll vendor to ensure accurate and timely filing and payment of statutory payroll withholding taxes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of involuntary withholding orders in collaboration with internal teams and payroll vendor.
  • Support accurate and timely processing of employee income from stock options and share grants in accordance with local regulatory standards.
  • Assist in processing payroll-related journal entries and accruals with internal teams and payroll vendor.
  • Support issuance of employee income tax reporting statements in collaboration with payroll vendor.
  • Resolve escalations by providing root cause analysis and corrective action for complex or non-routine situations.
  • Review and resolve employee pay-related inquiries.
  • Stay updated on payroll regulatory changes and analyze tax and legal regulations, including complex issues such as stock-based compensation.
  • Identify issues affecting the company and employees, working with Corporate Legal, Tax, and People areas as needed.
  • Review existing work practices and recommend areas for improvement, including workflows and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in implementing improvements/enhancements to achieve high levels of efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Assist with responses to all payroll-related audits, both internal and external.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Prior payroll experience required, preferably in a multi-national company
  • Highly organized and capable of working under time constraints to meet tight deadlines
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel, including use of pivot tables
  • Ability to accurately manipulate and move data across multiple platforms.
