About the position

L3Harris is seeking a Senior Specialist in Integration/Test Engineering to join our team at the NAS Enterprise Messaging Service (NEMS), which plays a crucial role in supporting the FAA's NextGen System Wide Information Management (SWIM) system. This position is based at the William J Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) in Atlantic City, NJ, and offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with customers to analyze their requirements and develop effective solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for deploying Java Message Services (JMS) and web services configurations to NEMS, ensuring that customer needs are met efficiently and effectively. In this role, you will engage with key stakeholders to understand their needs and communicate project deliverables clearly. You will provide integration and on-ramping support to internal FAA programs, assisting with the initial service orders and prototype configurations for NEMS. Additionally, you will track system issues reported by both internal and external customers, facilitating timely resolutions for all tickets. Your expertise will also be essential in supporting customer testing by troubleshooting system and network connectivity issues, as well as executing formal test procedures when customers are unavailable. The position requires proficiency in Linux system administration, including server and file system maintenance, as well as supporting configurations in VMware virtual environments. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of NEMS and its services, contributing to the overall success of the FAA's NextGen initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer needs by interacting with key stakeholders and relaying project deliverables in a clear and concise manner.
  • Provide integration and on-ramping support to internal FAA programs, assisting with initial NEMS service orders and prototype configurations.
  • Track NEMS system issues reported by internal and external customers to facilitate timely resolution of all tickets.
  • Support customer testing by troubleshooting system and network connectivity issues, and execute formal test procedures when the customer is not available.
  • Perform Linux system administration tasks such as server and file system maintenance and supporting configurations in VMware virtual environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Work experience interacting with others in a professional setting and presenting facts and data.
  • Internship or direct experience on a FAA NAS program.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Operating Systems and Linux based operating systems such as Redhat, CentOS etc.
  • Experience working with or supporting the FAA in a Test, Software or Systems Engineering role.
