About the position

The Senior Specialist in Learning and Development at Walgreens is responsible for consulting with the business to design effective learning solutions that meet organizational needs. This role involves project management, content development, and collaboration with stakeholders to create innovative learning experiences. The specialist will ensure the quality and effectiveness of learning initiatives while continuously improving programs based on feedback and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, writes and edits deliverables for learning initiatives, ensuring high-quality content through editing and quality assurance procedures.
  • Develops, analyzes, and designs a variety of learning materials and approaches for target audiences.
  • Scopes and designs innovative learning experiences in alignment with customer needs.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with subject matter experts on learning solutions and experiences.
  • Plans and tracks complex learning projects to successful and timely completion, measuring and reporting results.
  • Identifies issues, diagnoses problems, researches best practices, and generates alternatives to drive continuous improvement of learning programs.
  • Manages complex internal and external learning and development content, ensuring it meets instructional objectives.
  • Acts as content moderator for learning communities, ensuring participant engagement and that communities meet defined learning objectives.
  • Designs, develops, and implements leadership development and functional learning solutions, delivering customized training based on business requests.
  • Consults with senior leaders to identify business requirements and solutions to knowledge gaps.
  • Works collaboratively across the organization to ensure flexible and relevant learning solutions that provide clear value to assigned client organizations.
  • Recommends and designs means to measure the effectiveness of learning initiatives, evaluating and interpreting the results.
  • Analyzes the usability of new systems, improving interface, system design, and task flow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 1 year HR experience in Learning Content, Instructional Design, or Organizational Development; OR, High School/GED and at least 4 years HR experience in Learning Content, Instructional Design, or Organizational Design.
  • At least 1 year experience in curriculum development and designing training and/or organizational effectiveness solutions.
  • Experience with performance and process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects.
  • Experience developing presentations to various audience levels within an organization.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems.
  • Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as Human Resources or organizational development.
  • Experience working with web, multimedia tools and learning technologies, such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, LMS, Mobile Learning, and Learning Management Systems.
  • Experience with project management, including planning, organizing, and managing resources to achieve project goals.
  • Experience in retail/healthcare environments.
  • Facilitating working sessions to gather requirements.
  • Experience conducting research and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with various written means of communication, such as storytelling and creating credible, relevant copy.
