About the position

The Senior Specialist, Network Plan Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and deploying network components and software to meet customer requirements. This role involves evaluating network performance, preparing capacity analyses, and implementing solutions that support customer missions. The engineer will work closely with various teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure effective communication throughout the process.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct network architecture design, feasibility, and modeling.
  • Design, analyze, plan, deploy, and modify network components and/or software based on customer requirements.
  • Develop and evaluate network performance criteria and measurement methods.
  • Prepare analysis of short-term and long-term capacity needs for switching, routing, transmission, and signaling.
  • Evaluate technologies and designs for critical infrastructure and service needs for external customers.
  • Configure and apply security features in routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Implement solutions that support customer mission, requirements, and objectives.
  • Participate in inter-discipline initiatives to resolve technical challenges.
  • Create and maintain documentation and training for engineering teams.
  • Lead network vendor interactions, particularly with Cisco and Juniper.
  • Configure and implement Type-1 encryption for data in transit.
  • Troubleshoot IP networks and identify areas for automation and optimization.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of network engineering experience with IP networks.
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience, or 13 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Top Secret / SCI security clearance required.
  • CCNA or equivalent vendor certification.
  • Must obtain DOD 8140 IAT 2 certifications within 45 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarization with BGP, OSPF, and IPSEC.
  • CCNP or equivalent vendor certification.
  • Ability to plan, implement, verify, and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks.
  • Experience implementing and managing carrier-grade network technologies such as OTN.
  • Knowledge of IP technologies such as SNMP, Netflow, MPLS, and Ethernet switching.
  • Experience with Agile development processes.
  • Strong skill set with Microsoft Office software applications.
