About the position

The Operations Specialist for Over, Short and Damage (OS&D) at XPO is responsible for managing and resolving issues related to freight discrepancies, including overages, shortages, and damages. This role involves communication with customers, operations, and vendors to ensure quick resolution of claims and prevention of future issues. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Research over, short and damaged freight and process related documentation for quick customer resolution and claim prevention.
  • Communicate with customers, operations, and vendors to resolve issues around shipments identified as over, short, damaged, refused, or stranded.
  • Effectively use tools related to matching freight and documenting shipment dispositions.
  • Develop strong relationships with operational teams at service centers to solve recurring issues.
  • Monitor controls of paperwork and processes impacting claims, including timely communication of exceptions on shipper-loaded trailers.
  • Track and maintain detailed records for all hazardous materials to ensure physical inventory matches electronic inventory.
  • Work directly with vendors to ensure proper pick-up and disposal of spills and related documentation meets EPA and OSHA standards.
  • Bill shipments under applicable tariffs and pricing agreements.
  • Collaborate with the Cargo Claims Team to complete specific daily tasks to prevent claims.

Requirements

  • 2 years of operational experience in transportation, warehousing, or a similar field.
  • Strong critical thinking and planning ability.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer, typing, and 10-key skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 1 year of experience in OS&D.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations.
