About the position

The Utility & Sustainability Engineer plays a crucial role within the Plant Engineering team at the Wilson Site, focusing on technical support for the Energy Center, Packaging Operations, and NASU (Lab). This position is responsible for implementing the Site Energy Management Program, investigating utility system issues, leading engineering improvement projects, and enhancing productivity initiatives. The role requires collaboration with various departments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and to promote sustainability efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the identification and implementation of process improvement projects and productivity initiatives.
  • Investigate deviations in utility systems and manage deviation reports.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Technology, Automation, and Quality teams to determine investigation scopes and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for utility and facility systems during inspections and audits.
  • Review engineering records and cGMP documentation to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
  • Develop training materials and provide training for system maintenance.
  • Support the implementation of sustainability projects and initiatives.
  • Analyze and consult on sustainability and environmental projects to reduce impact.
  • Assist in the completion of annual sustainability reports and external rankings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technology preferred; other scientific disciplines considered with relevant experience.
  • Five years of experience in a regulated environment.
  • Experience with Scope 1, Scope 2, water, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Familiarity with cGMPs and vaccine regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in deviation management and troubleshooting manufacturing support system anomalies.
  • Technical writing and deviation investigation experience.
  • Utility and HVAC system process improvement experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • cGMP experience in a pharmaceutical environment.
  • Experience with formal problem-solving techniques like RCA, FMEA, and Lean Six Sigma.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Project management and organizational skills.
  • Three years of supervisory or project management experience.
