About the position
The Senior Sponsored Research Financial Analyst at Emory University plays a crucial role in the post-award processing of grants and contracts. This position involves account management, reconciliation, and providing support to principal investigators and research personnel. The analyst will ensure compliance with funding awards, monitor expenditures, and assist in the preparation of financial reports, all while collaborating with various units within the Research Grants and Contracts department.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for post-award processing of grants and contracts.
- Provide account management, reconciliation, and resolution for principal investigators and research support personnel.
- Advise and interpret research funding awards, approve and/or monitor accounting and procurement expenditures.
- Provide direct support with accounts payable/receivable processes.
- Interpret policies and procedures for academic departments and assist in report preparation for federal and sponsoring agencies.
- Review contracts, maintain grant and contract files, and monitor accounts receivable and deliverable reports.
- Develop queries and reports on the financial system and resolve contractual issues with division business managers.
- Communicate with sponsors to ensure compliance with contract regulations and reporting requirements.
- Close out contracts and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.
- 5 years of professional accounting or financial analysis experience, preferably in research/sponsored programs accounting.
- Equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Nice-to-haves
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
- Certified Research Administrator or Certified Financial Research Administrator preferred.
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial System and PeopleSoft Grants Module.
