About the position

Trilogy Federal, LLC. is seeking a Senior SQL Developer to support the data analytics needs of a large Federal agency, specifically the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SQL development and a strong understanding of data analytics within the context of federal agencies. This role involves conducting comparative, trend, and predictive analysis of various data sets, preparing comprehensive reports that aid in decision-making and communication. The candidate must be adept at working with large and complex data sets, managing multiple sources, and adapting to changing requirements. The Senior SQL Developer will be responsible for designing multi-dimensional systems using SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) star schema, which simplifies access to diverse data for efficient analysis. This includes uncovering trends and enabling timely, informed decisions. The role requires proficiency in SQL/PL SQL for creating, developing, and maintaining databases, as well as building reports using Power BI from OLAP multi-dimensional databases. The candidate will also assist in designing scalable automated reporting processes to deliver high-quality reports consistently and efficiently. To succeed in this position, the candidate must possess a Master's degree and have over 10 years of related experience, particularly with Power BI, SQL/PL SQL, database design, and ETL processes. A detailed understanding of Microsoft applications and strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential. The ability to create executive-level documentation and reports, along with a solid understanding of IT architecture concepts, is also required. The candidate should be able to interface well with end-users and senior client stakeholders, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative virtual environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting comparative, trend, and predictive analysis of a variety of data and prepare comprehensive reports of the analysis that are useful in decision-making and communication.
  • Work with large and complex data sets, multiple sources, and changing requirements.
  • Design multi-dimensional systems using SSAS's star schema for efficient data access and analysis.
  • Utilize SQL/PL SQL to create, develop, and maintain databases.
  • Build reports using Power BI from OLAP multi-dimensional databases.
  • Assist in designing scalable automated reporting processes for high-quality report delivery.

Requirements

  • Master's degree
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL/PL SQL, database design, and ETL processes
  • Understanding of big data concepts
  • Proficient experience creating, developing, and maintaining SQL databases
  • Experience with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA)
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Detailed understanding of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Experience with creating executive-level documentation and reports
  • General understanding of IT System Development Life Cycle and Agile concepts
  • Solid understanding of IT architecture concepts
  • Ability to interface well with end-users and senior client stakeholders
