About the position

The Senior SQL Developer will play a crucial role in providing application development and production support for multiple large projects within the financial services sector, particularly focusing on lending systems. This position requires a strong background in SQL development, troubleshooting, and performance optimization, with an emphasis on collaboration in a hybrid Agile and Waterfall environment.

Responsibilities

• Researching and resolving production issues, troubleshooting Mid-Tier MS SQLServer online and batch issues.
• Evaluating the daily and monthly batch process to improve performance and shorten the critical path window.
• Performing Impact Analysis across multiple platforms and applications.
• Delivering complete documentation for estimates, design, and development.
• Providing on-call production support during off-office hours (night and weekend).
• Coding and performing Unit and Integration Testing of software to ensure proper and efficient execution and adherence to business and technical requirements.
• Coding, testing, and debugging of new software or making enhancements to existing software.
• Writing programs according to specifications from higher level staff or business analysts.
• Developing technical documentation.
• Resolving promptly problems that arise with existing production applications to ensure the efficient and proper functioning of application components.
• Collaborating with technical staff to learn and understand software problems.
• Generating a variety of complex and periodic reports and/or data through database management, data administration, and data extraction techniques.
• Providing general system users and management with system analysis and feedback.
• Influencing system design by identifying and recommending design and requirements needs for software enhancements.
• Mentoring and coaching less experienced staff.
• Maximizing the efficiency of various software systems by implementing, monitoring, testing, and auditing new software programs.
• Analyzing and resolving computer-related problems by coordinating with in-house personnel to diagnose and fix operational difficulties, as well as consulting, advising, and training on specialized features and functions.
• Following established configuration/change control processes.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
• Business knowledge of Financial Services with an understanding of Financial Services, Automotive Lending, Customer Service, Payment Processing, Taxes, End of Term and Extension processes, Collections, Delinquency Tracking, Repossession, Charge Off, Recovery, Bankruptcy, and Accounting.
• Strong experience using SQL technologies (stored procedure, views, DTS package, etc.).
• 8+ years of strong SQL Development experience.
• Strong production support experience.
• SQL batch experience.
• 8+ years of experience in the design, development and implementation of SQL Server databases creating and maintaining T-SQL Procedures, functions, packages, and triggers.
• Excellent understanding of T-SQL programming with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience in both SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services.
• 3 years of experience working with ETL/ELT processes.
• Familiarity with test practices and deliverables for unit testing.
• Experience in working in Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Automotive Finance industry preferred.
• Understanding of financial services automotive lending.
• Knowledge of Informatica is a plus.
