About the position

The Senior SQL/Postgres Developer at Cognizant is responsible for designing and managing database structures, creating complex SQL queries, and providing application support. This role requires extensive experience with various SQL technologies and the ability to work collaboratively in a global team environment. The position emphasizes problem-solving skills and effective communication with management and clients.

Responsibilities

• Designing database tables and structures.
• Creating views, functions, triggers, stored procedures, and packages.
• Researching complex SQL/Postgres programs and addressing data issues.
• Providing batch application support.
• Building new ETL workflows in Teradata and Unix.
• Collaborating with onshore and offshore teams in application design and build using defined technologies.
• Communicating the status of activities effectively with management or clients.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience with MySQL, MSSQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Proficient in understanding and creating complex SQL queries.
• Knowledge of version control practices and procedures (GIT).
• Highly proficient in SQL developer activities and multitasking in other technologies (Teradata/MS SQL Server).
• Experience in Unix shell scripting.

Nice-to-haves

• Expertise in managing PostgreSQL and MS SQL server with strong SQL programming skills.
• Experience in AWS cloud technologies like S3, EC2.
• Experience in Jira and GitHub and other DevOps tools.
• Experience in Teradata with ETL and tools like Microsoft ETL.
• Exposure to reporting tools like Qlik or Tableau.
