About the position

The Senior Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in a growing insurance company with over 30 years of experience. This position involves preparing and analyzing financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and assisting with month-end close processes. The accountant will also focus on enhancing accounting systems and processes, maintaining financial integrity, and providing financial analysis to support strategic business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze accurate financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other relevant standards.
• Assist with month-end close by preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare inter-company reconciliations.
• Help identify, recommend, and implement enhancements to accounting systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies to maintain financial integrity.
• Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to support strategic business decisions and enhance financial performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 3-5+ years of accounting experience with a strong emphasis on financial reporting and systems improvement.
• Demonstrated experience in inter-company transfers reconciliation and financial systems optimization.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAGE, QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions, formulas, and data analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor and guide team members.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with GAAP (3 years preferred)
• Experience with Sage Software (3 years preferred)
• Spanish language proficiency (required)
