About the position

The Senior Staff Structural Engineer will be a key member of the Civil/Structural team at C&I Engineering, responsible for delivering structural designs for various facilities, including refineries and consumer packaging plants. This role involves preparing design packages, conducting analyses, and ensuring compliance with national and local codes while maintaining project schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares computer analyses and calculations.
  • Initiates discussions within the project team to arrive at design solutions that provide the best value for limited construction costs.
  • Prepares complete design packages, including construction scope of work, for complex projects that meet design intents and customer expectations.
  • Researches national and local codes, interprets grey areas, and recommends appropriate designs to meet requirements.
  • Develops subcontract scopes including compiling team needs for field investigation and testing, including surveys, laser scanning, geotechnical reports, and exploratory excavations.
  • Contacts clients independently to obtain information or resolve design issues and identifies work opportunities with existing clients.
  • Monitors and reports progress against engineering schedules and budgets, taking corrective actions as necessary to meet the plan.
  • Ensures designs are constructible, understanding construction techniques, limitations, and relative costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET-accredited engineering program with a minimum of 15 years of related work experience, or a bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET-accredited engineering technology program with 17 years of relevant experience.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Driver's License.
