About the position

The Hartford's Enterprise Data Office (EDO) is seeking a Senior Staff Data Platform Engineer to join the Data and Analytics Enablement Services (DAES) Team. This role is pivotal as The Hartford embarks on its journey to the Cloud, a transformative period that necessitates a customer-first mindset. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering collaboration and creating physical architectures and platform engineering solutions that involve cloud data platforms, data integration products, and analytical tools. The emphasis will be on improving user adoption and experience, ensuring that the solutions meet the needs of Data and Analytics users across the organization. In this position, you will engage with customers to evaluate their needs and provide architectural guidance on utilizing the right products and services for solutions that support batch/streaming, real-time, and near real-time integration/ELT. You will define physical architectures while considering feasibility, timeliness, and cost, and partner with Delivery & Platform Service Towers to establish architectural and design patterns for data pipelines. Collaboration with the Enterprise Cloud Organization, Information Protection, infrastructure, and security teams will be essential to design scalable solutions that deliver business outcomes. Additionally, you will address EDO Technology Lifecycle Management requests, evaluate the need for new software or technology, and coordinate the yearly recertification of existing applications. You will drive product evaluations, define scoring criteria, and provide recommendations while incorporating DevOps and DataOps practices into suggested solutions to enhance automation. The role requires a hands-on approach to engineering solutions for simple to complex problems, driving technical road shows to improve service adoption, and striving for excellence by challenging the status quo and influencing solutions.
