About the position

The Senior Staff Engineer, Electrical at Panasonic North America is responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating electronic components and systems specifically related to the Automotive In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) product space. This role acts as an internal consultant, providing project plans and technical guidance to engineers and other technical staff throughout the design and development process. The engineer will oversee the electrical design through all phases of the program, from the proposal stage to the end of hardware qualification, ensuring that all specifications and designs meet customer requirements. In this position, the engineer may lead an electrical design team in developing detailed performance specifications and technical designs. They will identify and implement qualification and acceptance test plans, lead problem-solving efforts, and interact with customer and supplier technical leads. The engineer will also be responsible for developing design process procedures and preparing necessary documentation, including schematics, Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), Board Support Packages (BSPs), component specifications, and bills of materials. Additionally, the Senior Staff Engineer will direct and coordinate the building of prototype products and systems, confirming the accuracy of the Bill of Materials (BOM) and assembly data. They will generate and analyze test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications, and will be responsible for determining the root cause of product nonperformance using appropriate test equipment. Mentoring less senior engineers and technical support personnel in technical areas is also a key aspect of this role, ensuring knowledge transfer and skill development within the team.
