About the position

The Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer for Offsite Ads at Coupang will play a pivotal role in developing and innovating advertising systems that extend beyond Coupang's platforms. This position involves building large-scale machine learning models to enhance ad targeting and engagement, while also leading projects and mentoring junior developers within a new development organization focused on maximizing revenue potential.

Responsibilities

• Design features and build large-scale machine learning models and systems to improve ad targeting, relevance, ranking, and engagement.
• Develop new techniques for automated mechanisms, such as automated bidding and query expansion, to enhance advertising platform efficiency.
• Create techniques to provide suggestions for advertisers to identify marketplace opportunities and improve their return on investments.
• Architect the machine learning platform at internet scale.
• Effectively lead projects across teams and mentor junior developers.
• Collaborate with product and sales teams to design and implement new ad product features.

Requirements

• 8+ years of industry software engineering experience in machine learning, statistics, and information retrieval.
• Deep knowledge in machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and business audiences.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Self-starter and innovator who enjoys solving complex problems.
• Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results.
• Ability to deal with ambiguity in business and technology.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural, cross-functional team.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
