About the position

FIS is excited to welcome a talented Product Designer to join our new design-led, cross-functional team focused on evolving, improving, and implementing our brand-new design system, Unify. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a consistent user experience across the entire FIS ecosystem. As a Product Designer, you will be instrumental in the foundational set-up and rollout of Unify, acting as a champion for the design system while partnering with your team to audit and prioritize design system work. You will build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the FIS organization, fostering collaboration and clear communication. Your contributions will extend to educating both the design team and the wider business on design system improvements and ongoing work, while also creatively contributing to strategic design projects that cut across various areas of the business. Working closely with engineers, you will help develop and build the design system, ensuring that it meets the needs of users and stakeholders alike.

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in the foundational set-up and rollout of Unify.
  • Be a champion for Unify, partnering with your team to audit and prioritize design system work.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the FIS organization, fostering collaboration and clear communication.
  • Lead the charge on educating both the design team and wider business on design system improvements and ongoing work.
  • Contribute creatively to strategic design projects that cut across various areas of the business.
  • Work closely with engineers to help develop and build the design system.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for visual craftsmanship such as composition, typography, and layout.
  • Proficiency in Figma and comfortable with technical aspects like HTML/CSS and advanced Figma features (Auto Layout, Variables, Components).
  • A portfolio showcasing design systems you've created or significantly contributed to.
  • A deep understanding of user-centered design principles and product strategy.
  • Proven experience designing and launching products for both desktop and mobile environments.
  • Understanding of creating usable, accessible, and modular designs that can scale seamlessly.
  • Experience collaborating effectively with engineers and other designers.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, excelling at bringing teams together and fostering clarity.
  • Comfortable providing constructive feedback to stakeholders.
  • Ability to embrace ambiguity and enjoy building structure and process from the ground up.
  • Innovative mindset with a love for pushing boundaries and exploring new design possibilities.
  • Experience integrating experimentation and data analysis into design decision-making processes.
  • Ideally, 6+ years of product design experience with 1+ years specifically focused on design systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience partnering with developers on design system development.
  • A design/development hybrid background or experience building websites or apps.
  • A history of working on canvas-based interfaces or creative workflow tools.
  • A track record of creating and managing impactful design systems and processes.
