About the position

As a Senior Staff Product Designer on the Platform Ecosystems team at Discord, you will play a pivotal role in defining design quality and crafting intuitive experiences for app developers and users. Your work will involve collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance the product's design system and mentor other designers, ensuring high standards of visual and user experience across the platform.

Responsibilities

• Craft the standard for visual caliber and quality within Discord and the Platform Ecosystems team.
• Lead vision-setting initiatives across teams, creating a cohesive product vision with tactical design deliverables.
• Partner with the Platform Ecosystems Design Director to lead team rituals and eliminate design debt.
• Act as a player-coach, owning design decisions and providing mentorship to other designers.
• Simplify the Apps user experience using wireframes, user journeys, and prototypes to enhance product engagement.
• Collaborate with design leadership to establish new ways of working and craft design standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing consumer-facing products.
• Experience in leading designers or teams at an initiative level.
• Strong communication skills to present ideas and develop product strategy.
• Desire to understand the 'why' behind design decisions to inform product vision.
• High level of design craft and commitment to quality implementation.
• A portfolio showcasing large-scale, high-impact projects for desktop and mobile.
• Experience working with and contributing to a design system.
