About the position

The Senior Staff Representative - Flight Operations Technical Illustrator plays a crucial role in creating and maintaining technical illustrations for Flight Operations manuals at United Airlines. This position is responsible for ensuring that all illustrations comply with FAA regulations and enhance user comprehension of flight-critical information. The role requires advanced graphic design skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to produce accurate and timely content.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain highly detailed, accurate, and technically compliant graphics for flight operations manuals.
• Collaborate with Technical Writers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and external customers to ensure quality and accuracy of illustrations.
• Proof all work for accuracy and monitor cross-fleet graphics for standardization.
• Establish and adhere to standard graphic naming conventions and critical processes.
• Enhance graphics across publications on an ongoing basis and ensure version control of all graphics files.
• Provide master files, job specs, and review proofs to vendors.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in graphic design, illustration, or a related field.
• 4+ years' experience in technical illustration, preferably in an aviation-related field.
• Proficient in technical illustration and advanced knowledge of Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro).
• Proficient in MS Office and Google Earth.
• Critical attention to detail and self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent time management, decision-making, and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years' experience in technical illustration in an aviation-related field.
• Adobe Certified Professional in technical illustration.
• Expert knowledge of Adobe Suite, specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro.
• Part 121 airline experience, preferably in flight operations.
